A Log Cabin Christmas, NYT best-seller, Blog Hop Day #1

Welcome! I thought it was time to launch another contest as well as introduce to you some really grand authors whom I have had the pleasure of working with on my recent project: A Log Cabin Christmas.

Over the next two weeks you will be introduced to new author each day.  There will be interviews, stories behind their chapter, recipes, and of course, historical tidbits!

Everything you need to know is on my Contest & Giveaway's tab.  So head on over there to check out what you need to do.

When you come back I will have some links for you to check out as well as your question for today!

For information about me and my books please visit my website: www.jkbooks.com

I like to share encouraging stories about me, my husband, my dogs, my writing, & nature here on my blog.  Maybe you would like to subscribe to get it delivered into your inbox or online blog reader? It's easy to do right up there on the left side of the page.

I'm on Facebook and Twitter too where I post on a regular basis, maybe I will see you there!

Lastly, if you enjoy reading newsletters from authors, Story Sparks may be just right for you.  You can see some archived copies here before you make up your mind to subscribe (delivered to your email) or not.

FINALLY: here is your question for the day...
Are you ready for Christmas?  What will be your favorite gift you are giving this year?

Tomorrow you will be visiting with Liz Johnson over at: I write about love and such

Christmas seems to come far to early every year. I have not really thought about Thanksgiving which is upcoming. However, the sentiment of Thanksgiving and Christmas both bring me to a really good place. Gratitude and the ability to treasure Jesus are worth living every day. I don't know what my favorite gift will be...I do love gift giving to help people feel valued. Thanks Jane! Reading Barcelona Calling right now and enjoying your new foray into a modern fiction. :)

I'm one of those people that many "hate" becasue I'm done with my Christmas shopping by Thanksgiving. I don't like shopping after Thanksgiving because I've run inot too many pushy and nasty tempered people. I like to concentrate on the things I am thankful for each year and nasty people tend to kill that feeling. My favorite gift this year will be my son home from college for the holiday. I'm also looking forward to seeing his face when he opens a package with a t-shirt I found for him that I found for him with Avatar theme. Thanks for this blog hop Jane. Reading Barcelona Calling too and enjoying it.

Oh course, not ready yet. It is not even Thanksgiving and I've got to think about that first. There are two ways to prepare for Christmas, one is the common way, which is to decorate and buy gifts. Of that matter, I'd have to say a gift for my daughter is my favorite, but mustn't say as she might read this! Of the less common way to prepare and infinitely more appealing to me, I'd have to say I'd like to gain more of the spirit of John the Baptist, who prepared the way for the Christ, calling others to be aware of His coming.

Great idea! I look forward to reading the book and about the other authors. It is hard to think of my favorite gift that I am giving. I think that the best gifts of Christmas and Thanksgiving are just the opportunity to be with my family, to enjoy our time together and be so grateful that we are all healthy and together for the holidays. Everything else pales compared to this.

I have just started thinking about Christmas. I have one more birthday to go through before I can even start. I have 3 grandchildren to give to this year.
Usually I finish Christmas shopping in November. This allows our family to focus more on the meaning of the holiday during December. I haven't even started shopping yet this year. I guess I'd better get going on that. Looking forward to snuggling up with some great Christmas stories.

I appreciate your books so much! My favorite is still Redeeming Love. I have read it 4 times and will read it again.

Am I ready for Christmas? Hardly, as I type this one-handed with my three month old boy in my lap, and my three year old boy clinging to my typing arm, asking me to "scoot over". I am mentally preparing for Christmas, though, and I am hoping for a jolly celebration this year with my husband and three boys.
The gift I am most looking forward to giving this year is the Little House on the Prarie series to my niece. Those books are just wonderful.
Thanks for the chance to enter this contest.

Our college daughter is a huge fan of Christmas and starts planning for it months in advance. She likes to have all the shopping done before Thanksgiving. This year we broke a record and had it done before she started her new school year. Talk about a great stress reliever. Now we'll be able to avoid the crowds out shopping and enjoy the season.

I am looking forward to reading this book! You are one of my favorite authors. I have only bought one Christmas gift so far, but we are thankful we have a new son-in-law to add to our list!

I am always ready for Christmas - and I am always not ready for Christmas. I never do all that I want to do but I so enjoy just letting Christmas happen. It's not about me. I love to see Christmas unfold in the eyes of those I love. 2012 will bring a new grandchild so my favorite gift to give this year will be something for the parents to hold on to until the already much-loved child arrives.

So excited to get this blog tour off the ground and I'm looking forward to learning more about everyone's Christmas traditions and historical tidbits.

I haven't done much Christmas shopping yet. I'll do a lot of point-and-click shopping in the coming days. :)

I'm hoping to get through Thanksgiving and one more family birthday before the focus of Christmas. I have started looking at gifts as I go to the flurry of craft bazaars happening now. I am pretty excited about giving my niece a quilt I made with the help of my sister.

Just finished Barcelona Calling and LOVED it. You did a little change up on us followers and kept me laughing. Funny you should ask about Christmas. I thought I was done with my shopping months ago, but with your new Log Cabin Christmas Collection out, I just ordered a couple of copies last night! They'll make the perfect gift supplement, and I can't wait to read the stories myself. Sounds like the perfect gift - that keeps giving 9 times! :-)

my greatest gift this Christmas will be to have it with my parents. They moved back to Illinois after 35 years. This will be the first one we have shared together in 20 years.
love the giveaway idea.

Not ready for Christmas, still planning for Thanksgiving. But I am thinking of gifts and starting to pick things up as I go along. Enjoying the blog hop idea...

I am never ready for Christmas, until the middle of December.
My most favorite gift I will be getting this year will be for my Grand Daughter, Destiny! I will be looking for a collection of wonderful stories, that can be read to her at bed time or anytime actually! I am really very excited about it!

I'm enjoying A Log Cabin Christmas...not quite finished, but so far I'm loving it! My favorite gift I'm giving this year is a layette set for my three granddaughters for their dolls. I'm crocheting each of them a doll blanket, hat and booties. As I'm sitting on the couch crocheting I pray for them with each stitch.

Merry Christmas,
Brandi

I am not ready for Christmas! It's way too early for me. I am often shopping right up to Christmas Eve. I like the entire season, even the days following Christmas. I can't think of a favorite gift, but I always try to find the perfect gift to light up my granddaughter's eyes with happiness.

My first post did not make it so hope this one does. I am not ready for Christmas but then I never am until it is here and done. Don't know about a favorite gift becasue I haven't been thinking about it. Our families are not big gift givers so it is not a big deal but I do know there are a couple of people who will be receiving A Log Cabin Christmas. I loved it so will enjoy all over again by giving copies to some friends.

I'm giving my in-laws a photo shoot for Christmas. A young mom at our church is helping support her family with her camera, my in-laws haven't had a family portrait done in 20 years, so this came together well.

Some family members, too, are getting copies of A Log Cabin Christmas!

This will be the first Christmas that both my Sons will be in their own homes for Christmas. I am ready for the Christmas Season to begin. My favorite gifts are the ones given at our Family Christmas party on the 23rd. The best gift is the one God sent to us His only Son JESUS.

In my heart, I'm always ready for Christmas! Our family has cut back on gift-giving in an attempt to focus on the greatest part of Christmas -- the gift of God's Son Jesus. So I don't have to worry about too much shopping. Looking forward to following your contest!

Looking forward to a gathering of the extended family at a noon lunch on Christmas Eve. We try to do this every five years. Amazing the changes in all our lives. Love Christmas. Since 1992 I've done a "baby cake" event in which the person getting the piece of cake with a tiny doll baby inside gets $20 and Good Luck Throughout the Year. The idea is based on the King Cake in the New Orleans area.

Always books, my favorite gift to give. My family exchanges wishlists. Last year I had them mailed. This year I get to put them under their tree! Excited! We wait until after Thanksgiving to share lists and shop, so not yet! This contest sounds fun. Will get to "meet" new authors to me!

I love your writing Jane. I just finished A Daughter's Walk and loved it. I also adored the Kinship and Courage series. Am I ready for Christmas? No Way! My favorite gifts are books. I just purchased a book on feeding backyard birds for my husband that I am sure I will read and he probably won't! He will then ask me all kinds of questions. That's it so far. I am looking forward to reading A Log Cabin Christmas.

I'm definitely not ready. Panicking even at the thought of it. But it's okay. My best present will be arriving in four weeks when my Mum lands at Portland airport.

NOT READY. I don't like all the pressure of shopping. I prefer to give a gift of my time or my homemade items.

Ok so Iam with alot of the other lady's I have gotten some things bought but am not done. I do a little each payday for the store bought items and try to be done around Thanksgiving, then concentrate on the homemade goodies for baskets. I have made fig jam and raspberry jam, salsa and zuccini relish all from items grown in my garden or my neighbors these are always a big hit with family and friends. The last 2 weeks I will be making cookies and candies for all my baskets. My favorite gift will be the 1st Christmas with our grand-daughter who will be 9 months old.

Right now, my favorite gift to give this year would be the stuff for running for my husband. We've both gotten into jogging lately, and he needs some new things. :-)
